POLITICAL ACTION
MISSION STATEMENT

The Committee for Political Education's (COPE) duties and functions shall be to educate the membership and the public on issues and candidates in the state, municipal and national elections; to encourage and assist members and their families to register and vote in elections; and to coordinate this Local Union's political activities with the trade unions in the area.

VOTE, VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!!!

The 2011 Denver Elections are over. After a run-off election for several races the winners have finally been crowned. We had several of our Local 3 endorsed candidates win and several candidates that we did not interview but endorsed through the Denver Area Labor Federation also won. This should be a good city council to work with. Since several of them are our friends, the education process should be slower than normal. With any luck we will increase the amount of City work we currently perform, due to the fact that they understand the value that our members bring to the table. The quality of work and the community benefits speak for themselves. The people we support know this, which is why we support them.

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things. Among them are . a few . Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or business man from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."
